Web design for health care providers

Most people find a clinic on a phone, and they decide quickly based on your hours, your fees and whether you are taking new patients. Synex Studio builds health care websites that answer those questions quickly, are built to be accessible, and are structured around the advertising and privacy rules a practice works under.

Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights

The second edition names an information right and a right to give feedback, so the feedback and complaints route belongs on the site too.

Ahpra's register of practitioners

Specialist and endorsement titles are restricted under the National Law, and the register is the public record a profile can be checked against.

Notifiable Data Breaches scheme

An eligible breach of health information must be notified to the OAIC and the people affected, so forms collect only what the practice needs.

What healthcare providers need from a website

  1. Advertising rules that limit your copy

Advertising a regulated health service is restricted under the National Law, and Ahpra's guidelines cover testimonials, claims that create unreasonable expectations of benefit, and offers made without clear terms. That removes most of the persuasion an ordinary marketing site leans on, so the page has to build confidence with clear, factual information instead.

  2. Tracking that can leak health information

An analytics tag or advertising pixel sitting on a booking page or a condition page can disclose sensitive information about a visitor, and the OAIC has made findings against health providers for exactly this. Health service providers are covered by the Privacy Act whatever their size, so the small business exemption is not a way around it.

  3. The information patients need first

Someone who is unwell wants opening hours, after-hours arrangements, billing, location and whether you are taking new patients, on a phone, in under a minute. Practices are also expected to keep information like this available to patients, and it changes far too often to sit in a design file.

What we build for healthcare providers

Accessible design for every patient

Page designs built to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with readable type, real contrast, keyboard and screen reader support, and plain language that suits older patients and people with low health literacy.

Practice information you can edit

A WordPress structure where your reception team can change hours, public holiday closures, billing details and practitioner listings themselves, with training and documentation at handover.

Practitioner profiles built to the rules

Custom profile templates covering qualifications, registration, languages spoken and areas of practice, written so every claim on the page is factual and checkable.

Booking, calling and intake

Fast, hand-coded pages with a tap-to-call number, your existing booking tool embedded without dragging down load times, and referral or intake forms built in-house so enquiries reach the right person.

Analytics that respects health data

Analytics and any advertising tags configured so booking pages, condition pages and form submissions are not passing sensitive detail to third parties, with your privacy policy and collection notice matching what actually runs.

Care, backups and security patching

Australian hosting with updates, backups, uptime monitoring and security patching, plus the small content changes a clinic needs most weeks.

Common questions

Can we put patient reviews or Google ratings on our website?

Advertising a regulated health service is restricted under the National Law, and Ahpra's guidelines deal with testimonials directly, including the difference between reviews on a platform you do not control and content you publish yourself. We will not add review content to a health site unless your practice has confirmed its position, and we build it so it can be removed cleanly if that position changes. If you are unsure, check with Ahpra or your professional indemnity insurer before it goes on the page.

Do we have to stop using Google Analytics and Meta ads?

No, but a health site needs more care than most, because the OAIC has investigated health providers over tracking pixels that disclosed sensitive information. We set analytics up so booking pages, condition pages and form submissions are not sending identifying detail to third parties, and we make sure your privacy policy and collection notice describe what is actually running. Anything you are not comfortable with, we leave off.

Will the new site work with our booking and practice software?

Usually yes, because most Australian booking tools offer a link, a widget or an API, and we build around whichever one your practice already uses rather than asking you to change. What we check carefully is how much the embed slows the page on a phone, and whether it drops any tracking of its own onto your site. If it does, we tell you before launch rather than after.
