Web design for IGA franchisees and independent supermarkets
Your store is independently owned but trades under a national banner, and your website has to serve both. Synex Studio builds supermarket sites that keep the weekly specials, trading hours and department details current, and load fast on the phone people check them on.
Country of origin claims
Country of origin statements sit under an Australian Consumer Law information standard, so produce pages carry only what your suppliers support.
Unpackaged food allergen duties
Plain English allergen names became mandatory for unpackaged food in 2024, so counter and menu wording follows the required terms, not the supplier's.
Food Industry Recall Protocol
The sponsor's recall notice is reviewed by FSANZ, so the site holds a place to publish the wording supplied and pull the product listing.
What IGA franchisees need from a website
-
Specials that change every Wednesday
The national catalogue turns over weekly and your own local specials sit alongside it, so a site that is slow to update ends up advertising last week's price. Where the unit pricing code applies to your store, prices you publish online carry the same requirements as the ones on the shelf edge.
-
A local store under a national banner
The group's own pages already cover the banner, the catalogue and online ordering, and they read the same for every store in the network. Your site has to earn its place with what only your store can say, while staying inside the brand guidelines that came with your banner agreement.
-
Aisles the website must treat differently
Tobacco and vaping sit under federal advertising prohibitions, so those lines stay off the website rather than being handled like any other aisle. If a bottle shop trades alongside the store, liquor content falls under your state's licensing rules and needs its own treatment, including age gating and the licence details you display.
What we build for IGA franchisees
Weekly specials page
A specials and catalogue page your team updates each week, with start and end dates so last week's prices come down on their own.
Department pages for each counter
Pages for the butcher, deli, bakery, seafood and produce, plus the in-store services people search for, like the post office, lotto and parcel pick-up.
Deli and butcher order forms
Custom forms for platters, cakes, bulk meat and Christmas orders that land with the right department and take a secure deposit where you ask for one.
Trading hours in one place
Set trading hours once for each store you own, public holidays included, and publish them across the site and into the structured data that search engines and map listings read.
Careers and community requests
Mobile job applications for casual and department roles, and a proper intake form for the sponsorship and Community Chest requests that otherwise pile up in an inbox.
Care plan for a weekly site
Updates, backups, monitoring and security patching, plus the small changes a supermarket site needs between builds, like a changed holiday roster or a new department photo.
Common questions
We already have a page on iga.com.au and use IGA Shop Online. Why build our own site?
Those cover the banner and the ordering, and they look much the same for every store in the network. Your own site is where the things only your store can say live: your butcher, your hours, your local specials, your jobs and the causes you back. We build it to sit alongside those channels and hand shoppers through to whichever ordering path you use, not to duplicate them.
Can we use the IGA logo and campaign artwork on our website?
That is set by the brand guidelines attached to your banner agreement, not by us, so we design to whatever you have been given and check anything unclear with you before you approve the design. The site is structured so banner elements and campaign artwork can be swapped when the group changes them, without a rebuild.
Can our staff update the specials each week, or do we have to call you?
Your team updates them. We build the specials page in WordPress with a simple editor and dated entries, so a duty manager can put the new catalogue up on Wednesday and the previous week's comes down by itself. If you would rather not touch it, the care plan can cover the weekly change instead.
