Web design for mortgage brokers

A mortgage broker's website has to earn enough trust for a stranger to hand over their payslips, and carry the licensing and disclosure detail that comes with providing credit assistance. We build sites that do both, and keep them current as your authorisation, lender panel and team change.

Best interests duty

Part 3-5A of the National Credit Act shapes how the site describes your process, your lender panel and how a loan is reached.

Section 8 credit assistance

The Act separates general information from suggesting a particular credit contract, which governs how tools and pages are worded.

Design and distribution obligations

Consumer credit products carry a target market determination, so pages and enquiry paths promoting a specific product are built around it.

What mortgage brokers need from a website

  1. Disclosure that has to stay current

Your credit licence or credit representative number, the licensee you act under, your ABN, credit guide, privacy policy, and complaints and AFCA details all have to be findable and correct. When you change aggregators or your authorisation changes, every page, form and PDF that mentions them has to change too.

  2. Advertising wording under credit rules

Credit services advertising sits under ASIC's guidance on false or misleading statements, and the credit legislation restricts terms such as independent, impartial and unbiased in representations about your service. Publishing an interest rate brings its own requirements, including a comparison rate and the accompanying warning shown with equal prominence.

  3. First enquiries carry sensitive documents

A borrower's first contact often includes income, debts and identity details, sometimes with payslips or bank statements attached, so the form has to be secure and clear about where the information goes. It also has to be short enough that someone finishes it on a phone.

What we build for mortgage brokers

Disclosure blocks you can edit

Your licence or credit representative details, credit guide, privacy policy, complaints process and AFCA information held as editable fields and reused across the site, so a change is made once.

Secure enquiry and upload

An enquiry flow built for loan enquiries, with encrypted document upload and Australian hosting, and submissions passed through to your CRM or aggregator system where that system accepts a feed.

Borrower pathway pages

Separate pages for first home buyers, refinancing, investors, self-employed borrowers and construction or commercial finance, so each visitor lands on content that matches their situation.

Calculators built in-house

Repayment, borrowing power and refinance comparison tools built as a custom plugin, with the assumptions and disclaimers you control, rather than an embedded widget you cannot change.

Suburb and referral pages

Service area pages for the suburbs you actually write loans in, plus pages for referral partners such as buyer's agents, accountants and conveyancers, written to be useful rather than duplicated.

Care after launch

Updates, backups, monitoring, security patching and the small changes brokers keep needing, such as a new lender on the panel, a revised credit guide or a broker joining the team.

Common questions

We operate under an aggregator or franchise brand. Can we still have our own website?

Usually yes, though your aggregator or franchise agreement is what decides it, and those agreements often set brand, naming and marketing approval rules. We work to whatever guidelines you are given and keep the branded elements easy to change if your group updates them. It is worth confirming with your group before design starts.

Can we publish interest rates or a rate comparison table on the site?

You can, but advertising a rate for regulated consumer credit brings requirements with it, including a comparison rate and warning displayed with equal prominence, and rates go stale quickly. We build rate tables so the figures, comparison rates and warnings are fields you or your compliance contact update, not text buried in a template. The wording itself should be signed off by your licensee before it goes live.

What happens to documents a client uploads through the site?

Where we can, we hand the borrower across to your CRM or a purpose-built portal rather than store financial documents on the website itself. Where an upload does sit on the site, it runs over an encrypted connection on Australian hosting, and files are moved out to your system rather than left sitting in the media library. Your privacy policy and collection notice still need to describe what you collect and why.
