The problem
Most WordPress backups fail in one of two ways: they take a full snapshot every single run until the storage bill forces you to keep fewer of them, or they quietly stop working and nobody notices until the day the site is gone. And a backup you have never restored is not a backup, it is an assumption.
What it does
One combined backup of your files and your database on a schedule, storing only what changed since the last run. Backups stream straight to Cloudflare R2 or Amazon S3, so they live in a bucket you control rather than on the same server as the site. Restores are one click, and you get alerted when a run fails, or when a scheduled run silently doesn't happen.

Incremental on both halves
Files are compared by size and modification time, or MD5 if you prefer. Database tables are dumped individually and compared by checksum, so an unchanged table is never uploaded twice.
Chains, not snapshots
A full backup starts a chain and later runs are incrementals. Restoring any point in the chain automatically pulls the full backup and every incremental up to it, you pick a date, not a file.
Offsite, in storage you own
Backups stream to S3-compatible object storage. Cloudflare R2 is the recommended destination because it charges nothing for downloads, which makes restores, and restore drills, free. Amazon S3 works identically.
Guarded restores and failure alerts
Restores go through a review screen, need the word RESTORE typed out, and dump the current database to disk first. Email and Slack/Teams webhooks fire on a failed run and on a schedule that was silently missed.
Why we built our own
Plenty of backup plugins are good. Most are also built to sell you storage: full snapshots every run, kept on their infrastructure, priced per gigabyte. This one only moves what changed and sends it to a bucket in your own account, so the backups belong to you, they outlive your relationship with us, and restoring costs nothing. It is also written for the hosting real small businesses actually buy: work is split across short requests with a file-based state machine, so 20-second execution limits and low memory ceilings don't break a run.
Questions
Where are my backups stored?
In an S3-compatible bucket you own, Cloudflare R2 or Amazon S3. We never hold your backups, and you can revoke our access without losing them.
Could I rebuild the site if the server was gone entirely?
Yes. Every backup uploads a manifest and a catalogue of all backups is kept in the bucket, so a site can be rebuilt from the bucket alone. Two steps in that procedure have to be set up correctly before you need them, so we walk through it at handover rather than on the day.
Will a restore onto a different domain lock me out?
No. Your current site address is kept by default, and wp-config.php is never overwritten unless you explicitly allow it.
